Question
Hello. If i use a rubbermaid container as a snake hide, does it matter if the container is clear? also, how big should a hide be compared to the snake? does the hide need anything inside of it?

Answer
I would try to use something that isn't clear. The main purpose of the hide is so that the snake can feel secure that nothing can see it. Also, it doesn't have to be a container, you can use the lid of a container (for example, the lid of a CoolWhip container). The size should be such that the snake can fit inside/under it and feel secure. It doesn't have to be much bigger than the snake's size. For the normal hide, there doesn't need to be anything inside the hide box. You might want to also make a humid-hide area for when the snake is in a shed cycle. For this you can fill it a third or halfway with damp sphagnum moss or paper towel. This will help your snake to shed properly.
