Question
Rocky- Baby ball python.
Rocky- Baby ball pytho
Hello,

I have a baby ball python about 7 months old, the girl I bought him off of said that she has more snakes that I could possibly buy off her again. I'm scared that if I buy another snake off her and I want to bred the one I have now to the one that I might be getting isn't that inbred. For example like dogs and cats when they inbred will something happen to the babies that if I inbred a brother and a sister from a different litter of snakes from the same mother or different father or mother or however she did it? I'm just little scared something might happen....

Also was wondering how to you check the sex of Leopard Geckos. I have 4 of them and they are probably about 2 months old by now, and also afraid that they might be the same litter also but they have different colors on them.

Thank you,
Ashley.

Answer
OK, first things first, ROcky needs to eat!  At his size he looks like a newborn.  He should be eating almost full grown mice by now.  One hopper mouse (eyes open ears up walking around on its own) every 5 days from now on.

Balls do not have as many problems with inbreeding as mammals, so it would be only a small concern.  So simply ask her if they are the same litter and then/or buy somewhere else.

Sexing leopards isn't hard once they reach about 4-6 months of age.  The males will have a V-shaped set of what appears to be pores between their back legs.  I'm sure you can find pictures of it on the web or maybe even a how-to video on youtube.
