Question
Hello Eric My name is Bobby Lewis. I am a new ball Python owner for about a month or better. My snake is captive born not sure of the age? The current temps and humidity are. 1. Under lamp its 80 deg. Humidity is at 20%. 2.The other end of cage is 64 deg. Humidity is 13%. My question is during feeding tonight the Python got punctured some how? Didn't see it happen not sure if mouse bit or scratched snake??What do I need to do for this? Will it heal on its own or is there something I need to do?? I didn't notice until snake was done eating.. The snake seems to be ok.. I just want to be sure!! Thank you for your time!

Answer
Hi Bobby,

The first thing you need to do is increase the temps to around 90 under the lamp and 80 on the other end. The humidity level should be around 60-65%. With everything being so low you are looking at having a sick snake. Increase these and you will be fine.

He/she will heal on its own. You could apply iodine to it to prevent infection, but this is probably not necessary. I would only apply it to the wound if it was fairly large.

Hope this helps,
Eric
