Young red tail feeding

Question
I have recently acquired a young red tailed boa. I have dealt with snaked nearly all my life, but have never had a problem getting them to eat frozen mice. This one will not touch a frozen mouse. It tends to run from the mouse and even if left in the cage will avoid it. Although if I drop a live hopper in the tank it will eat it immediatley. I have tried moving the mouse like it is alive, heating it normally, have even tried giving the snake a taste of the mouse to make sure it knows what it is. Nothing seems to be working and I won't feed it live due to the possible health hazards. I was wondering if you have any other hints or clues to get the snake to eat frozen. Thank you :)

Answer
Hi Josh
Here is my suggestion:
Since he is not interested in the thawed mouse you might first need to feed a small stunned live prey. Mice can be stunned by giving it a hard bump to the head. A stunned mouse should be immediately followed by freshly killed mouse and then a pre-killed one. The next feeding should be started off with freshly killed prey, followed immediately by pre-killed prey. Hope this helps :-)
