Scales

Question
I have recently acquired a Ball Python whom I have had before in the past. She belongs to a friend of my mother's who lets me take her whenever I want. This time around, the scales on her belly seem like they are lose and bend backwards more easily. I know the scales on the belly bend back more than the ones on the back when rubbed the wrong way, but it seems that this occurrence is more extreme than it was last time I had her. Is this a problem? And if so, what could be causing it?

Answer
Hello Rose,

Usually when their scales becomes loose sometimes it could mean they're beginning to shed soon.  For their scales should be back to normal after shedding.

Also, check its humidity.  Humidity haves a lot to do with their skin conditions and such.  It's just like human skin where when we live in dry places we get dry skin more easily than, if we were in a more humid environment.

The humidity in the cage should be about 60-80%.

When their scales are loose on their belly it's really nothing to worry about.  But sometimes they can have wood stuck in their scales, and you'd just have to pull out and they don't feel a thing:)
