Question
QUESTION: Hi, I need help. I'm leaving for Disney World in two weeks, and would like to bring my 2 foot Western Ribbon snake with me. We will be going by car, it's a two day drive, and we'll be gone three weeks. Please replie. Allie

ANSWER: Hi Allie,
3 weeks is a long time. Normally, I would suggest just leaving him at home, but being aquatic, I agree you should take him with you. Get a rubbermaid type container and keep him in it. Make sure he has water and also make sure you use a drill to make good ventilation for him. He should be okay, but probably won't eat. Have fun at Disney. I took my 3.5 year old daughter there last year and she had a wonderful time.

QUESTION: Does it need to be a tub? I can get a travel tank. I want her to be comfy and at ease. And what do need to have on hand on the trip? PS I've been to Disney ever since my 30 year old brother was seven! Allie

Answer
I would not waste $ on a travel tank when a Rubbermaid tub will do just as well. Walmart has some of appropriate size for a 2' snake. I would keep water on hand and in a dish for him on the trip. If you can, keep him in the back seat for easy access and to see if he is doing okay. You might look into having a friend keep the snake or check in on him. Another option I just thought of is to see if a local pet shop will board her for the trip. It makes sense that you could ask them to keep him, give the manager a 20, and ask them to feed the snake. The only thing that worries me is if your snake were to get loose in the car. I had a boa that climbed in the dash of my truck and it took about half a day to get him out. Not fun!
