having a milk snake

I'm thinking of buying a milk snake and i was wondering if it's safe to handle it, and if it is how do you know if it wants to be handled or not?

I am not sure that any snake wants to be handled. In nature, anything bigger than them that picks them up intends to kill them. A milk snake is a good choice due to its generally tame disposition. It is entirely safe to handle it; any bites are not poisonous. The key to getting a snake used to you is handling it often.
