QuestionQUESTION: Hello, I am buying a young corn snake soon and I'm getting a whole kit to get set up. But I'm wondering if there is such a thing as too big a cage for a young corn snake. If so what would you suggest keeping it in until it is big enough to move into a roughly ten gallon habitat?
Thanks for your input. ~Mike
ANSWER: My suggestion would be to hold off on the aquarium. Start with a large "Critter Keeper" type plastic cage. They work very well for small snakes and the lids lock into place. In a year or so after the snake outgrows the plastic cage then go ahead and get a 20 gallon long aquarium. Good Luck!

QUESTION: Thanks for your response to my last question. I have one last question for you: do you advise feeding in a seperate container or in the snake's regular habitat? I have heard good cases for both. What is your opinion?
Thanks again,
~Mike
AnswerFeeding in a seperate cage IS a good idea. It cuts down on bites from a confused snake. With a corn I don't know that it's needed but better safe than sorry I suppose. The seperate cage can be a paper bag from the grocery store as long as you don't leave it unsupervised. I feed all mine in their cage and if I get tagged every once and awhile... oh well.
