Question
there was a big garden snake living a little too close to my front steps of my home so a friend caught the snake and relocated it for me.when the snake was picked up it's belly was huge, it had two very big lumps in it and it discharged a fluid from a hole underneath, @ the tail end of the snake. what was the fluid?

Answer
It depends on the snake. If it was a garter snake, it was most likely feces / urine mixture. These snakes use this defense to ward off predators. I really does not smell very good at all. Northern water snakes that I have removed from our pond have treated me to this pleasant experience!
