Small species Python and Boa

Question
I have a male Ball Python months old about 1 foot, doing well.
I like the ball python for it's disposition and size (small).
Are there other pythons and boas that don't grow to be more than 5 to 6 feet?

Also, will I be able to house my ball python together with another python, or boa?

Thanks,
Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

There are other species of pythons that do not get to more than five feet, there are even a few boas.

1. Blood Python
2. Carpet Pythons
2. Sand Boas

Just to name a few readily available at your local breeders or pet stores. Ask where they got the snake from before you buy it. There are to many pet shops that carry wild caught or imported animals. Look online for a reputable breeder for a quality animal. At least you will not have to worry about any parasites and decease.

I would not suggest housing a boa with a python due to the diseases each carries. There is what is called IBD in boas. This can kill a python within a month or so.

When, and if you purchase another snake before putting them together you really need to quarantine it for a month. This will allow you to observe and strange behavior as well as make sure if it has mites you don't need to worry about your existing snake.
