Question
Hi. I currently have my dwarf/mini rex Rabbit Gilda, but, my boyfriend wants to add a ball python to our little family, and I'm concerned about my bunny. Would the snake try and eat her or hurt her, besides mice I'm not entirely sure what counts as food to them. can you help me?

Answer
Some snakes will only go for mice, but as I found out with my ball, she does know the scent of birds regardless of the fact I have never given her any. (She got out in a classroom with a cockatiel in it, and was found staring at her about 2 weeks later) The rule I use at work is that if I have been handling ANY kind of rodent (Rat, mouse, ferret, hamster ect) I wash my hands throughly before playing with the snakes. I have a pet rat along with my snake, and I just don't keep them out at the same time and make sure my rats scent is gone before getting out my snake. The ball python could potentially get big enough to eat a dwarf rabbit (Depending on if you get a boy python or a girl. Girls get at least a foot longer) and might if it got a chance at her.  So that should be easy for you. If you have been handling your bunny, wash your hands before saying Hi to the python. Don't let them near eachother and you shouldn't have any problems.
