corn snake : shedding or sick?

Question
i have a baby corn snake that i bought about a month ago. recently, "stewie" has become more and more lethargic and continues to hide under the waterbowl instead of inside his den as normal. this morning i woke to find him very very pale and curled up real tight. i picked him up and he moved fine, so i know he wasnt dead, but his eyes arent really "blue" as described in the shedding process. they are glazed  and glassy but are not blue-ish in color. how can i tell the difference between the beginning of a shed and him being sick?

Answer
It sounds like he is in the shedding process, especially since he sought out the water bowl. They like humidity when in shed. I would suggest making a humid hide box for him. It can be as simple as a cool whip container with a hole in the side, filled with damp sphagnum moss or even  damp paper towels. Put it on the cool end of his cage and I'm sure he'll find it and stay in there until he sheds.
