Question
I had a californian king snake (black and white banded)
she was under the age of one but unfortunatly I had her put down 1-2 months ago ( she had cryptospridium as u probibly know there is now cure) what snakes would u recomend for a keen snake enthusiast with a few monthes of experiance with a 4foot tank? thanks

Answer
Hi Anna,
I have a niece named Anna Marie, so you are in good company. Wow, sorry to hear about your Cal King. With a 4 ft tank, you have a lot of options. Any king, corn, (most colubrids) will be okay. If your in the mood to spend more money, a rainbow boa or a green tree python might be a good choice (GTP's are for a more experienced keeper, but there is plenty of info on the net). Hognose snakes are a good choice. They are easy to keep and just plain fun, with a lot of personality. Western hognoses like to play dead when spooked. A children's python will also work. All rat snakes will work in a 4 ft. tank. You really have a lot of options. If you'd like to  narrow it down to 2 or 3, I'll help you choose.

Regards,

Kevin L. Ogle
