Regurgitated Food!

Question
Hi!  First of all thanks so much for taking the time to read and answer my question.  :)  I purchased a healthy baby albino corn snake from the pet store about two weeks ago and have been feeding him live small pinkies ever since then every 4 days since he's still young and needs more food.  He always accepts the food, even though he's very slow in eating it and usually stares at it for a while before going in for the kill.  Well a few days ago I fed him a pinky as usual, but he took a very long time to eat it...he would bite it and then let go and look around the cage for a while, then go back to it.  When he finally swallowed it, he acted normal.  Then just this morning I saw a pink blob in the cage and realized it was the regurgitated pinky.  Why do you think my corn snake did this?  He's been acting fine and I never handle him after he eats, so I don't know what happened.  Thanks!

Answer
It's possible that he's about to go into a shed cycle. They will sometimes puke up their food if fed right before a shed. It's also possible that the warm end of the cage wasn't warm enough for it to digest it's food, or else the food simply didn't agree with him. In any event, make sure that you don't feed him for about 10 days or so. Snakes lose a lot of their digestive juices when they regurge, and if you feed them right away again it will likely regurge again. After 10 days, offer him as small a food item as possible and then give him a full 6-7 days to digest it. Then he should be fine.
