Question
QUESTION: I have a Burmese Python about 2 years old and just under 6 feet. She is fed 2 medium to large rats every week and has done so for 2 months. To date she has not had a bowel movement. She gets plenty of exercise and her temp is kept about 85 and the humidity is around 50. She is currently getting ready to shed for the third time in 3 months! Help!!!

ANSWER: Hello Jeff,

Soak her in the tub and gently squeeze her from mid body to cloaca area. How big is she? Bigger snakes take a bit longer to process their food.

QUESTION: Hi Eric, She is just under 6 feet long and the largest part of her body is about as big around as a coke can (maybe a hair bigger).

ANSWER: Hey Jeff,

Try what I said with soaking her in the tub. Then squeeze her gently. She may just be back up a little. She is big though and it will take a little longer for a big snake like her to defecate then something smaller.

QUESTION: Hey Eric, I have been soaking my python and I just now tried starting about mid-body gently squeezing her down the length of her body. When I got to her cloaca, much to my surprise, Two fairly large urates came out! One was fairly soft and pasty, the other was rock hard! But still no poo! Am I on the right track?

Answer
Hey Jeff,

You are. I would keep it up. You might even consider a small amount of laxative in a water dish. This dish should not be left in her tank. Just place it in there and observe her drinking it once then pull it out and replace it with normal water.

Hope this helps,
Eric
