Open Mouth on Corn Snake

Question
Hello!
Lately, our corn snake's mouth doesn't properly close all the way. It's out of alignment as if he never got the jaw back together after eating. The lips are not meeting together, so there is a small crack of an opening on the left. His physical condition is otherwise excellent. Slinky is 15 years old, quite active, and has a good appetite. He recently had a full shed, and eats once a week. Should we be concerned? Thanks for your help!

Answer
Lynn,
I would not be concerned. I am not sure what the problem is as I am not a vet. The only thing that concerns me is mouth rot. If you take a look inside his mouth and it looks pink, white, and healthy, I would not be concerned. I would look to make sure he has not ingested some sort of substrate. If he was my snake, I would just keep a close eye on it. As a rule of thumb, if the snake is eating well, there is very little wrong with him.
