Question
QUESTION: My snake is 3-6 months old and it stopped eating a month an a half ago. It would eat the frozen pinkies but i started to give her live lizards, she ate only lizards for almost 2 months. I couldn't find any lizards to feed her and tried to give her a fuzzy, she wouldn't eat it, now she wont even eat the frozen pinkies. I am looking for a place that carries live mice. Has her feeding habit changed because of the live food or is she not eating because it is winter.

ANSWER: It could be either. I would suggest following the path that you are on by giving her live pinkies if you can find them. Is it possible for you to get any more of those lizards? If so, freeze a couple and each time you want to feed a pinky, thaw out a lizard and rub it's scent all over the pinky. Then refreeze the lizard for the next time. If you can't find live food, and you can't get any more lizards, then I would suggest trying to hibernate the snake. Make sure that the snakes gut is cleaned out by not feeding for 2 weeks, then gradually turn down the temps until it's about 60 degrees. Keep it that way for about 2 months if possible, providing as little light as possible. Make sure the snake has access to water. After 2 months, gradually raise the temps, then try feeding with a frozen-thawed pinky.

QUESTION: The lizards are just lizards off the wall, I have stopped seeing them sence it cooled down. If I am able to catch some more how would I freeze them? I live in AZ and have no heat sorce other that a heat pad under the tank, the temp. in the house is kept around 74, how could I get the temp. low enough for her to hibernate, and is this safe for the snake?

Answer
If you are able to catch some more then yes, freeze them and use them for scenting the mice. Hibernation is based on temps and light, so decreasing the light will help was well. But for the temps, it sounds like you would need and air conditioning using to get the temp to the 60s.
