female ball python pooping blood

Hey I'm a little worried right now that something could be wrong with my female ball python.  She's about a year and a half old and Ive had her for most of that time.  She just completed a shed last night and the night before she pooped.  Everything was fine with the shed but afterward she started farting real bad and actually had some blood come out.  It wasn't a lot of blood, more like spatter, but I was wondering if this was normal or if maybe she's on her period.  Ive never heard of a snake have a period, but I guess I don't see why they would once the hit a mature age.  My concern is because Ive never seen her do this before.  Any Ideas?

Hey TJ,

When snakes shed their skin this includes the vaginal area as well. She may have been a little dry when she shed and therefore had a harder time around that area.

You should not worry. The next time you notice her eyes bluing start misting in the tank everyday. This should help.
