Question
QUESTION: Hi,  My snake, Racer, is about 8 years old.  She has never been with a male. About 2 1/2 weeks ago she layed 2 eggs. The pet shop where I got her assured me that this does happen sometimes and not to worry. But....as of today she is up to 10 eggs. 1 or 2 showing up every 2 or 3 days.  The pet shop has never heard of this happening. They said snakes usually lay all their eggs at once. So now I'm worried! Is this normal? Will she be ok?  Thank you for any information you can give me.

ANSWER: In my experience, yes, it is ok. My pythons often lay infertile eggs (called slugs). I would not be too worried.

QUESTION: Hi Kevin,  I understand that her laying slugs is normal, but how long can it go on? It has been over 3 weeks and she is still laying eggs...2 more last night makes 14.

Answer
Wow, that is a lot. I still do not think it is abnormal, just on the high side. I have seen 12 eggs before. I would not take her to the vet as I do not think there is anything they would do. Is she eating at all? If you can get her to eat, I am 85% sure nothing is wrong.
