New California King Snake

Question
I just bought a 3 year old, about 3.5 foot California king snake, the breeder suggested a frozen mouse once a week, but the mice he gave me were enormous. After I realized the snake was terrified of the big mice I purchased a pack of new smaller frozen mice and a pack of pinkies, just in case. He still isn't eating and its been two weeks. The breeder also said he hasn't eating a couple months before that either because he was going to breed him but the mate died. Can you help me? I'm worried, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Matt. After all you have tried I highly recommend a live mouse.  But since he is a bit intimitated by the large mouse try a small one such as a "hopper".  He really should be eating by this time.  I have one kingsnake that is VERY finicky and doesn't eat all that often.  She also is a breeder.  Don't worry and give him another 2 weeks of trying to coax him into eating a live small mouse.  Try once a week.  If he doesn't eat it in a few hours take it out.  Also...try feeding him at night when he is more active.  Good luck and let me know how it works out for you.
