Question
My son has a ball phython and it is about a year old and hasn't eaten in about two weeks. Maddy is acting funny and when you pick her up she turns her head upside down and doesn't move like she usually does

Answer
Hi Julia,

IT is not uncommon for a ball python to go the whole winter season without eating. I would not worry about the eating part yet. Keep offering food every week. If after a while you notice a considerable weight loss, them it is time for an intervention, "force feeding." I hate telling people this because it can cause more harm then good. I had a male around the same age that did not eat for almost eleven months. Once he took the prey he has not quit eating since.

Some things to check on in the meantime.
*the temps (85-92 degrees is good)
*the humidity levels (60-65% is good)
*for mites (check the water bowl for small black pepper like specks)

If all is good just give him some time. Continue on your feeding regimen.

Hope this helps,
