Question
will kings snakes eat while in shedding process? My son received a king snake from a friend with a mouse. he said that the snake should eat it within a day or 2. i noticed his eyes clouded and the mouse still alive and it has been at least 3-4 weeks. i noticed some shedded skin in the cage and wondered if that was why the snake had not eat the mouse yet. i checked in on them in 2 days so i don't know if the mouse is gone or not. i was just wondering. thanks for your help.   Dana

Answer
Please tell me the mouse is not in the cage with the snake!!!  If so, get it out now!  Most snakes will not eat while shedding.  NEVER NEVER NEVER leave a rodent in with a snake for more and 10-15 minutes.  If the snake hasn't killed it by then it is not interested.  Eventually the rodent will start chewing on the snake and can even kill them.  Wait a day or two after the snake sheds and try feeding it again.
