mites, how do you get them?

Sorry that I forgot to ask this in my previous question but How do snake's get mites? Is it something I have done wrong. My snake's have never had them before and they are a year old?

Usually mites are introduced when you purchase a new snake that has mites and you didn't quarantine it for 6 months before putting it near your other snakes. If you haven't added to your collection in some time, then they may have come from the bedding that you are using. Every time that I have heard of or experienced mites they came with the addition of a new animal.
