heatpads

Question
I bought a 4 month old Amelanistic Corn snake, everything is going perfect, he's eating and all that stuff. But he hangs out near the heatpad which I have side mounted. His temperatures are, left side 73F, right side 71F, should I address the problem? If so, would it make a difference to put the pad aon the bottom? The intructions say not to remove the heat pad after you put it on, ths can damage the internal wiring. What do I do?

Answer
In general, the warm end should be low 80s. Yes, you may damage the pad if you remove it. Where is the pad now if not on the bottom? If he's keeping down his meals it's not necessarily a problem right now, but when you get to larger food items (like a hopper or full grown mouse) he may have trouble digesting it if only at 73 degrees on the warm end.
