Question
I bought a pueblan milksnake 2 weeks ago.  Told she was 1 1/2 yrs old.  She is just over 3 feet long.  The pet store was feeding her one pinkie a week.  She looks under weight to me.  I fed her 1 pup rat last week and she took that no problem.  Is this adequate and does it have as much nutrional value as a full grown mouse?  Or, do you feel she is to young to be eating this size food?  Any help here would be greatly appreciated.  This is my first snake and a learning process.

Answer
Hi Nancy in Canada!
Good question and an easy one to answer. As a rule of thumb, feed any snake a mouse or rat equal to the largest part of his body (girth), never bigger. It is okay to feed 2 at that size if the snake will eat it. It is better to overfeed than to underfeed. Hope this helps. Go Rangers!
