Question
Hi...thank you for all the information you've given me. Well I thawed a mouse yesterday(pinkie) and put it in front of the hide she was in...she was for sure in it I checked first.... anyway it wasnt bothered by this morning thou I picked it up in a tissue and saw the tissue was red I flipped it over for a second to see the mouse was covered in blood? what happened? the mouse didn't have a mark on it when I put it in last night...did Dementsia bite it? I've never delt with frozen feeders before only ever live and dead bugs for lizards. Also I want to be sure this is right...my corn snake manual says to let her bite me when I'm trying to handle her and she will get used to me? she bit me yesterday she drew tiny dots of blood but it didn't hurt...are corn snakes nicer then this as adults she was really hateful yesterday during our handling sesion. Thank you.

Answer
My guess about the pinky mouse is that she bit and chewed on it a bit before deciding not to eat it. That's probably what bloodied it up. I would try again in a day or so. Sometimes if they are coming up on a shed cycle they won't eat. It's hard to tell.

Regarding the biting, I've only hatched out a few clutches of corns in the past. Some hatchlings were calm, others were mean as anything and always wanted to bite. The more that you handle it the better it will become. I've never seen a mean juvenile/adult though. I've only been bitten by one adult, and that was a female that was about to drop eggs and didn't like the fact that I was cleaning her cage.
