Question
hi, i have a 1 1/2 year old corn snake and im worried about how it eats. It's a really good eater, it once ate 6 fuzzies in one day. But, when it eats it usually doesn't strike at the mice. It goes up to the mouse and nudges it with its nose. He then opens his mouth and works his mouth around the fuzzy. He then precedes to swallow it alive, without strangling it. I was watching him eat and when the mouse was in his throat and he finally closed his mouth i could see the sides of his neck moving while the mouse struggled to get out. He's never regurgitated anything but is this gong to be a problem for when he gets older? or will he start to constrict them more regularly?

Answer
He will start to constrict them when he has bigger prey it's normal for them to eat like this when they are small or if their prey is smaller.  It sounds like he may be ready for a slightly larger prey item now if he is eating 6 at a time and not even trying to kill them.  If you are worried about his abilities to kill the prey you could always try him out on frozen thawed as well.
