snake not shedding

Question
hello again,
i contacted you a few weeks ago about my snake having scale rot. i cleaned his cage very well, and have been keeping it very dry and sanitary, as well as taking out the heating pad because you mentioned that if they were on that too much it could cause scale rot as well.
well it's been a while since he's eaten because he started to turn pink and his eyes clouded over like he was going to shed but he never did. he's been very immobile lately and doesn't wander around his cage at night like he used to so my boyfriend and i take him out every day for exercise and socializing with us. and as of yesterday we noticed that his belly was no longer pink and his eyes were clear, but there was no sign of a shed anywhere..
i haven't been able to find the antibiotic ointment you suggested to help cure the scale rot. could you send me a link of a place online that sells good quality reptilian antibiotic cream?
thank you so much again,
maria

Answer
Hi Maria,

your snakes eyes will clear up before a shed (about 2-3 days or so beforehand)so this is normal.

i have a link here. its a medical site that sells iodine solutions but they should be essentially the same and ok to use.

http://www.colonialmedical.com/product.php?productid=20654

basically the important bit to know is that you need the 0.75% available iodine solutions not the 1.0% stuff. if you dont want to use the link provided try searching 'povidone iodine' its the active ingedrient in Tamodine.

i hope this helps

Andy
