health of my corn snake

Question
i was handling my ten-month-old corn snake yesterday;  i've been handling him every two to four days. i'm very careful while handling him, and he shows to be very calm after a few minutes. i've never had problems with him, he's very docile, and never shows signs of aggression. however, yesterday while i held him, after about twenty minutes of handling, he urinated on me and defecated on me- a lot.  the feces were really watery, not solid. he'd already defecated his meal the previous day normally.  did he do this out of nervousness or is this a sign that i should probably take him to my vet to have it checked out?  =/

Answer
Don't worry, this sounds totally normal. Snakes urine is very watery and that's probaby what you saw. Sometimes they will do both at the one time, sometimes we are unlucky and we get them out before they have went to the toilet and they go all over us. Usually the fact that they get out and the handling can stimulate them to go to the toilet. In the vivarium you wouldnt really see the urine, as if you use bark substrate it is soaked up, though if you used kitchen roll you would see that the urine has been soaked up. Good luck, don't worry it sounds like you are looking after him well and enjoy your snake!
