Question
QUESTION: My friend's son has a python and left the lid off.  It has slithered into the heat vent (they were getting carpet and the vent covers were off)  Help!  How do they get it out?

ANSWER: Hi Tasha,
How much does he love the snake? You might try setting a hide with a mouse in it to catch the snake.

QUESTION: More suggestions please.  Do you think turning on the A/C would make him come out?  What about the heat?  Do you think he will only came out when he's hungry?

Answer
I am not sure what else to suggest. Nothing is going to make him come out. Most likely, he is just hanging out in there. I am not sure that there would be any way for him to clime up, but I do suppose it is possible. The only 100% sure thing to do is to take the duct work down and remove him. Snakes do not react quickly like a dog or cat, so I do not think turning the heat or air on or off will drive him out. The worst case scenario is that he has made it to the motorized parts of the unit or that he can't find a way out and he dies in there. How big is the python? Could you use a  light and mirror to look down the vent / duct area?
