Corn snake sick?

Question
Hi
I have a snow corn snake who has lately been making a noise simillar to a person blowing out of their nose short and quickly. I'm not sure if he is hissing or sneezing but he does it every time I pick him up and continues to do it as I hold him. I read that some corn snakes might do this if they are annoyed but he has always been a very friendly snake. I'me very scared it might be respiratory infection but he is not bubble blowing/popping and doesn't secrete any mucus when gently grasped behind the head. I read it could be from shedding and his eyes have been blue for 2 days now. I am very scared. Please help!

Answer
If he isn't blowing bubbles, then if it is respiratory it isn't really serious yet. In some cases the snake will position himself against the glass with his head slightly upside down, in kind of a C shape to help him breathe.

It is true that some snakes will do this when they are annoyed. The banana kingsnake at work makes it QUITE clear when he is upset. Tail shaking usually accompanies this. It is possible that something else might not be feeling good and the hissing is a response to the handling aggravating it.

I would suggest taking him to the vet for a checkup. Respiratory problems are not good for snakes and can be fatal.
