pet snake

My son is 10 years old and wants a pet snake very much.  Which type of snake would make the best pet?

without doubt the best snake to keep as a first time owner is a corn snake. they are friendly, dont grow too big (about 4-5ft), arent expensive to keep, look good, and are very hardy animals so small mistakes in their care if corrected wont harm them in the long term.
