Question
I have just recently bought a ball python and when we first brought bug-a-boo home he was pretty calm now he strikes at the window I ask the guy at the pet store about the climate in his cage and he said he was upset b/c he is to cold we up the bulb and he has his heat rock when you go to open the cage he strikes what could be the problem .

Answer
Hello Jennifer,

Since Bug-a-boo is a new snake..  He will snap because he's not used to the environment.  It's normal for snakes to do this when coming to a new home(it's there defense attack.)  Just give bug-a-boo some time and he'll be calmer in a few weeks.  What you can do is try to hold bug-a-boo a few times out of the day that way he can get used to the environment and will be a bit calmer..  My python (snakey-snake) used to snap at everything but as I held her more often she got used to everything..  Now she's the sweetest and won't bite a thing.(unless it's eating time.)
I hope this helps.  you're welcomed to ask any more questions:)

P.S. Here is a website that might help:)
