Ball Python wont relieve itself

Question
Hello. On the 10th of April my boyfriend and I bought a 2-3 month old ball python, and it is the 15th of May and the little thing has yet to relieve itself. It eats fuzzy and young mice without any problems, but we have not found a trace of any fecal matter or anything else in its tank. We do not know if it was wild-caught or captive-bred, but it is a very people-friendly little thing. We got it from  a PETCO branch, don't know its gender, its average temp is 85 Fahrenheit, unsure of humidity, and sterilized pine shavings are the substrate. It has an undertank heater with a thermostat. Oh, and it yawns, a LOT. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Answer
Hello Kalena,

The first thing you need to do is remove the pine shavings. They have oils that are very toxic to the snake. Use Aspen. PETCO is known for selling imported animals. Not saying you have a problem associated to this, it is just the truth.

I think once you change the substrate and allow some time for adjustment your snake will be fine. It will pass its fecal matter when ready. Have a water bowl in the tank place part over the heater. This will help control humidity levels and warm the water bowl.

Hope this helps,
Eric
