Releasing a Captive Milk Snake back into the wild

Question
I have had my Eastern Milk Snake for about 6 yrs now. He was captured in a backyard when he was about 7 inches long. Overtime I wonder if he would be happier out in the wild. I feel so bad for him sometimes because I don't give him the attention anymore that he deserves. I work 2 jobs now and I know that's no excuse, but I'm truly trying to do the right thing. I live in a condo, My patio backs up to a beautiful woodline with a creek. Should I just release him in the woodline? Please help, what should I do?

Answer
Definitely do not release it back into the wild. It has been in captivity to long to be released.  It would learn to hunt etc., but the fact is that snakes and all animals have a territory that they maintain and when you removed that snake another took over its territory.  Snakes really don't care about humans as long as your cleaning the enclosure and providing fresh water, and food on a regular basis that snake is safer where he's at.  In the wild he would surely be killed most likely within a few months.
