Question
I have a guinea pig who is approximately 6 years old.  We are going to be trying to start a family in a short time.  My question is this: do I need to get rid of my guinea pig while I am pregnant because of something in the litter or can I just change to a different kind of litter?

Answer
Hi Colleen

There is no need for you to get rid of your piggy, just make sure you wash your hands after handling him.

However, I am a little concerned when you mention litter. what type do you use? If its anything like cat litter, this is bad for the pig.

Hay, shredded paper, wood shavings are all ok.
