Guinea pig - choking!

I have a 9month old guinea pig who has the odd habit of sounding like she is choking all the time. If she has had something to eat or a lot to drink she coughs a lot and kind of splutters as if she is choking should i take her to the vet? she is not losing weight eats well i just worry as it sounds horrible - when i take her out the noises stop... any advice?

Hi Ashley,

any medical concerns you have about your piggy should be dealt with immediatly by a vet, since piggies are so vulnerable to getting sick. I would reccommend a trip to a local exotic animal vet to see what he says. If she is in pain then its best to get a vet to look at her. Hope this helps.
