Question
I have a Guinea Pig that is about 8 weeks old. His name is Cookie Dough. He is always making a little whining sound. Even though he has a full food dish and full water. He gets along well with all my other pigs and he isnt hurt. But when I put my hand in the cage he comes up to it and will lick me but when I try to pet him he runs away and starts whining again. What do you think the problem is?

Answer
I don't think he does have a problem.  He is a young guinea pig who is not used to you yet.  The more he gets used to you, the less he will run away and whine.  There is absolutely nothing to worry about.  All guinea pigs are skittish and afraid of people at first.  It just takes time for them to get used to you and bond with you.  When you do take him out, try feeding him veggies such as romaine lettuce, kale, parsley, carrots, red leaf/green leaf lettuce, etc.  He will associate the veggies with being held, and he will eventually LOVE to come out of the cage with you!
