Question
Why shouldn't guinea pigs eat alfalfa?

Answer
They can eat alfalfa, it is in most guinea pig pellets, but hay wise it is best to feed timothy unless the pig is a baby or pregnant, this is because there is a lot of calcium in Alfalfa hay versus timothy hay, which in adult pigs is too much which can lead to kidney stones. Don't worry if there is alfalfa in the pellets, all in all it is just better as a precaution to use timothy hay as a supplement to avoid kidney and bladder stones.
