Question
Hi. My guinea pig's ears feel hot when I gently hold them between my fingers, and whenever I hold my guinea pig, his tummy and private area feel a lot warmer than usual. I havn't done anything thhat would cause this, like a bath, so I was just wondering if there was something wrong with my guinea pig. If there is, could you please tell me how I can help?

Thanks!

Answer
Your pig doesn't have a fever. A normal temperature for a guinea pig is 102+ degrees F. That's 4 degrees warmer than we humans. So to touch your pig skin to skin he will always feel warm to you. There's nothing wrong with him.

As a rule of thumb anytime you're concerned about whether your pig is healthy or sick just watch his eating habits. When they become ill the first thing they do is stop eating, thus they begin losing weight. If your pig is eating and drinking normally he's just fine.
