Question
I have two pigs that are suffering from a mite infection of some sort..I have used over the counter spray and have also given them the Ivemectrin (sp?) The one has a very swollen foot and both have very swollen hind parts.  They had a very bad odor prior to the meds.  Since then the odor is gone, but they still show the increased swelling.. I am not sure what to do.. They are still eating as they normally would.  Is there anything else that I can do.. I can not afford to take them to the vet.

Answer
well swollen parts seems to be the norm, two of my guinea pigs currently have swollen aprts along with mange. the foot and private parts will most likely be from either rough terrain they are moving over all the time or else dampness. ensure their cage is clean and dry at all times, if you us sawdust for the time being just use a hay (not straw). if you are not already give them the meds via injection to ensure they are recieving all of the largest dosage they can have, check petery gurney's website to make sure you're giving the right amounts. it will take a while for them to get better and you will have to keep treating them for a little while after they look better just to ensure they do not have a relapse.

tbh a vet would only do the same thing you are doing but for an increased price

I should warn you I have lost guinea pigs whose mange had become too severe, so just be prepared that your pigs might not get better.
good luck
