Urine infection in Guinea Pigs

Hi, im just wondering recently iv spotted my female white guinea pig peeing Blood and also squeaking while peeing, I took her to the vets 4 days later which is today and the vet  checked for swallonesd in the lower back and  could't  feel any and also said that the blood in the urine could be Urine Infection or kidney stones etc, She thinks it could be a Urine Infection ahe gave it an injection to change the urine colour and heal the illness if its the right medication 4 the right illness.
She also told me if its the wrong illness the guinea will go down quick and could also die and said that if i do give it an operation 4 kidney stones there is a chance it wont make it threw the operation and said 4 us not to waste are time unless we really want to and im not really planning on  paying hundreads ob xrays medication and surgery and it may not even survie in surgery Do u think as wat youve heared its an urine infection?? Help !!!

As tough as it is to hear I think your vet is not only probably right, but I admire the fact that she's honest enough to be truthful about the possible outcome.

Sometimes they can pass the stones on their own if they are small. If they're very large stones they will die trying to pass them. Urinary tract infections do happen to guinea pigs, the blood in the urine when they pee is usually an indicator of stones. The tiny little tube that carries the urine from the bladder out is not big enough or flexible enough to get a large stone through.

Here is a picture of a stone that was removed from one of my sows. She had to be euthanized, then the stone was "pushed through" the urethra to get it out. She never would have survived that procedure so I chose to have her gently put down.
