6 week old baby piggies passed away

Question
hi mary.
my guinea pig gave birth to 3 healthy baby guinea pigs around 6 weeks ago. we made sure we looked after them very well. we feed them plenty every day and cleaned there cage often and kept them in side as it has been very cold as of late. but about 2 weeks ago we started to notice that the 2 blonde baby guinea pigs started to lose their hair and were rather skinny considering how much they ate, and then we woke up one morning about a week ago and our female one had passed away, we were very upset. then 3 days ago we came home from work and noticed that our blonde male was laying there almost dead, we got him out and put him in a nice warm blanket and were trying to save him. he was also losing his hair but this time we had to watch him as he died and there was nothing we could do as we couldnt afford to take him to the vet. it was very sad but we got to watch some of the symptoms that he had while passing on that we did not get to see with the other baby. he was having fits and had black like mucus coming out of his mouth. our last baby guinea pig seemed very healthy she was full of fur and and rather chubby. and we woke up this morning to find her dead. we were absolutly devestated. im wondering if there was something they could have had? they were not inbreed and we seperated the male about 2 weeks before the female even gave birth. we did alot of research beofre she gave birth so we could make sure that they would be happy, healthy little piggies but unfortunetly it doesnt seem like that was the case.
please help we are devestated and dont want this happening again down the road.
thankyou

Answer
Hi Tyanna

this is very sad and I dont know what to suggest as to the loss of 3 babies within such a short time.
The only way would be to take them to a vet for a post mortem but this is very expensive and it is not going to bring them back.
It sounds like you have done all you could to ensure they were born healthy.
Kind regards
Mary
