no sounds

HI laura!
          i no its early but ive had a guinea pig for 2 days now and it makes no noise whatsowether why is this?

Hi Stu,

It is very normal for piggies to not make sounds for the first few weeks it's in it's new home. It's a major life change, going to a new home, as everything is very different - the people, the sounds, the scenery, the routine, the cage, the food... It's very scary for a guinea pig, especially a lone piggie.

It's a very good idea to take him to the vet for a full check. Make sure the vet sexes the piggie as well, as piggies from stores and breeders are very often sick, pregnant or mis-sexed.

Once he has been given the all clear, look into adopting a friend for him from a rescue or shelter. Guinea pigs are very social creatures so don't really enjoy living on their own.
