Question
Hi, may i know how to see the age of the guinea pig.  Recently i adopted a female, the ex-owner says she is 4 months old but her size is bigger den my other 4 months old.  I suspect that the ex-onwer is not telling me the truth.  How do i check n confirm the actual age of the female?

Thanks & Regards

Answer
Hi Jennifer.  Its hard to say the exact age, but a lot of breeders estimate that at 6 months old a guinea pig should be about 2 pounds.  4 months old about 24 ounces.  My only suggestion is to weigh your new guy and compare to weights and ages I just gave.  You may try asking a veterinarian, maybe one of the rabbit vets on this site will know something about guinea pig aging.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
