Did my guinea pig partially miscarry?

Question
Hello Pat, 1st of all thank you for telling me how to send photos.  When I get time (LOL), I will try it for you of the babies.

My question is I'm wondering what happened with our beautiful long haired sow, Reggie.  She had a baby in August and she was about 10-11 months old then, everything went smoothly.  We kept the baby.

Now she has been with a long haired male, Cedrick, for 60 days as of today and she has been getting plump  I realize that it doesn't necessarily mean she's 60 days pregnant of course but I'm wondering if she may have aborted any and still have a couple inside of her.  I never noticed anything except some blood.

Yesterday she was quieter because of this.  She's still eating pellets, looks forward to her veggies, especially extra green pepper I've been doling out each day pretty much since she's been with Cedrick for extra Vitamin C.

I don't know what happened, she still feels plump and when I weighed her this AM, she was 1325 grams whereas in late September, she weighed 1125 grams.

She lives in a huge pen and comes out for exercise, gets hay which I have seen her eating.  I 'don't think' she's been drinking as much as she did with her 1st pregnancy.

Do you have any ideas?  Could she still have babies inside of her?  Could they still be alive?  If she's still eating, is that a good sign things will get better?  I don't feel any movement of babies inside of her at this point so I don't know if they're dead inside of her or perhaps she's not that far along yet actually.

Thank you so much for your help, you've been so helpful to me in the past!

Paula

Answer
I don't think she's had a partial miscarriage or you would have seen a small little body and/or a placenta.  If she's still eating and drinking normally she's fine. The spotting may not be significant but it could also mean an early delivery is pending. It's a wait and see game now. But yes, she could indeed still have live babies in her. Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that's the case and that everything will go well.
