Question
Dear Ryan, sadley my GP of 5yrs passed away yesterday, he was fit and well untill the summer when he started with impactation. Then he seemed to lose weight, but we helped him with his diet and hoped made his life easier. He went to the vets two week ago for a check and all was well, but seem too deteriotate rapidly this last few days.He was such a character and made me laugh, we loved him so much!!
Now my other GP of 5yrs a male, is on his own. Would it be wise to leave him on his own or get him a friend to keep him company, What do you think?
With him being older would a young GP give the run around or would they fight?

Answer
Hello Josey and thanks for the question (sorry for a late reply),

You should definitely get your GP a new friend. They will fight to establish dominance and then all will be well between them. Remember to only do this if you can afford another 6-8 years of your life to a GP. Sometimes people will let the surviving GP grow old on his own until his time has come. This requires more attention from his human friends and never fully replaces the herd instinct that is so strong in GPs.

Whatever you decide good luck to you and have a nice day,
Ryan
