how to get two guinea pigs back together

Question
I have two guinea pigs (Ivan and Minnie)  I bought them separately and put them together in October 2004.  This past December 30th, Ivan was rushed to the vet for emergency surgery to have bladder stones removed.  I have kept them in separate cages since as to allow Ivan to heal and remain stress-free.  It is now mid january and I am trying to get them back into the same cage.  I tried to have them share hay together on the florr while I supervised, but in my attempts, they are VERY aggressive towards each other.  (Minnie is female and has always been more agressive, and Ivan is a male, and has always been really laid back.)  I do not know what to do.  Do you have any suggestions?  Please Help!  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Claire

Minnie has obviously got used to being alone. Whenever two pigs are agressive with each other, it is neccesary to keep them apart until this behaviour stops, if it ever does.

If you do need to keep them apart, why not put their cages side by side so they can interact with each other and keep each other company.
