My girl!

Question
It's been about a month now that I have been trying to figure out if my girl is sick or if I am just not reading her right. She does eats the normal amount of food, both her pellets, hay and fresh veggies. However when compared to her roommate, her pace is alot slower when eating. The couple of things that have me concerned is her lack of excitement anymore. She used to "popcorn" alot and squeel and whistle. But nothing anymore. She will move about her play area when I put her in, but she doesnt seem to have any fun as she used to. And her breathing does seem slightly labored, however I continue to go back and forth because she does have an appetite and I have been weighing her every few days, with no weight loss (or gain) at all. She does have a little "crusty" around her eyes each morning as well. I read so much of how a sick pig will go down hill so quickly if not treated. Is it possible for a pig to hold onto a sickness for so long. Or if indeed she is sick, would undoubtedly know by now? I will certainly take her to the vet if necessary, but I just go back and forth with her appetite being normal and her weight holding steady. Any suggestions would be great! Thank You!

Answer
Hi Brandy

I tend to think, based on your comments that if there is something wrong it is something minor.

The lack of popcorning and playing is not unusual for a pig when she gets from her initial young pig stage.

I think it would be worth taking her to the vet just to rule out a respiratory infection. This would explain the breathing and crusty eyes. If an infection is detected, a simple course of antibiotics should do the trick.
