New company for other piggie

Question
They've been together for the 2nd day now.  I would hate to take the 2nd one back because she is soooo adorable, and my little girl would freak out.  The first one is my sons, the 2nd my daughters.

They haven't hurt each other, and calm down eventually, but the first one still makes that sound.  Now the 2nd one will follow the first one squeaking, like maybe she wants to be friends... I don't know.  I'm very confused. Do you think overtime they will be ok?

Question -
We just got a 2nd female guinea pig.  The first one we have is a female as well, maybe 7 or 8 weeks.. the 2nd one is about 8 or 9 weeks.

Well, we are concerned that they aren't liking each other.  The first one, Gina, has started making a sound and circling our 2nd one, Muffin.  It seems mean.  Gina has also been walking in front of Muffin when she goes for food.  I'm sure it's territorial of some sort, but will this behavior change or should we get a different piggie?

Thanks, any information quicly would be greatly appreciated!

Answer -
They most likely are not going to get along, guinea pig are funny in that way, they seem to really have a preferance in who their friends are. Some females get along and some don't, also most males do not get along but occassionally there will be a pair that will. The best thing to do if possible is get another pig as a friend, and take the one you are keeping with you to pick its friend out. If pigs do not get along with in about 5 minutes they usually never will, they also can injure each other severely. They are not getting along most likely because they are both dominant in their personality, you will need another submissive pig to get along with one of them. Answer
If they are chattering their teeth at each other and hunching up and circling each other they could possibly get into fights. Sometimes 2 food dishes, hiding spots and more cage space can help, but if they are ever acting like they are going to bite each other then it would be best to separate them, or try a larger cage with more accessories. Sometimes one pig will overtake the food and not allow the other to have any so you need to watch out for that too. The best thing to do would be try multiple areas in the cage for food and hiding, also a bigger cage if possible, I usually use a 3-4 ft. by 1.5 ft. cage for 2-3 pigs depending on their size.
